Yesterday, Samsung rolled out the January 2023 security patch to the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the US. A couple of hours later, the company pushed the latest security update to the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Now, Samsung has made the January 2023 security patch available for the carrier-unlocked variants of Galaxy Z Fold 3 (SM-926U1) and Galaxy Z Flip 3 (SM-711U1).

The software update carrying the January 2023 security patch to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 carries the firmware version F926U1UEU2EWA2 and the one for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 comes with firmware version F711U1UEU3EWA2. The January 2023 security patch fixes more than fifty security issues.

As usual, if your Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Galaxy Z Flip 3 hasn’t notified you about the latest update, go to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install to check for the new firmware manually. The other way to get your hands on the new update is to download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. But we don’t recommend you try this route unless you are well-versed in the flashing process.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 are currently enjoying monthly security update status. These two phones are also eligible to get the One UI 5.1 update, which will be based on Android 13. The next update from Samsung will debut with the Galaxy S23 on February 1 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event. So, expect One UI 5.1 to hit your Galaxy Z Fold 3 or the Galaxy Z Flip 3 a few weeks after that.
