The Galaxy Z Flip was one of the first devices from Samsung to receive the January 2023 security patch. However, the company had only rolled out the latest security update to the international variant. Today, Samsung is expanding the update to the carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G (SM-F707U) in the US. The carrier-locked Galaxy Z Flip 3 (SM-F711U) in the US is also getting the new update.

Starting with the Galaxy Z Flip 3, the latest software update for the device carries firmware with version F711USQS3EWA2. It is currently being rolled out to devices on Comcast and Xfinity Mobile networks. As for the Galaxy Z Flip, the new software update for the foldable bumps up its firmware version to F707USQS3GWA1. The new software updates of both devices offer January 2023 security patch that fixes more than fifty security vulnerabilities.

You can check for it manually if you haven’t received the update yet. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and click on Download and install. If you still don’t see an update, you need to wait a little more before it reaches your device. But if you don’t want to wait, you can download the update from our firmware database and flash it manually.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5G and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 are eligible for monthly security updates. However, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G could soon be downgraded to a quarterly security update status. Both devices are also eligible to get Android 13-based One UI 5.1. The upcoming software will make its debut with Galaxy S23 on February 1, 2023.
