Samsung makes some of the best TVs that you can hook your Xbox up to. However, soon you won't even need a console to play Xbox games on your TV. Microsoft is working on a Samsung smart TV Xbox app that will let you stream games directly on the TV.

Microsoft is big on cloud gaming. As part of its Xbox Everywhere initiative, the company wants to make Xbox games accessible to everyone, even if they don't own a console. According to a new report, this app for Samsung smart TVs should arrive in the next 12 months.

Samsung smart TV Xbox app will simplify console-quality gaming

The report mentions that Microsoft is working closely with Samsung on this app. It makes perfect sense for Microsoft to choose Samsung for this project. Samsung is the world's leading supplier of high-end TVs. The app will instantly reach tens of millions of people across the globe. No other TV manufacturer could provide that scale.

Through Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Gaming service, it's already possible to stream games on your computer and mobile devices. Just yesterday, the company announced that Fortnite is coming back to mobile through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

A Samsung smart TV Xbox app will make it even simpler to play console-quality games. You'll just need to pair a Bluetooth controller with the TV and you're good to go. The beauty of cloud gaming is that all of the processing is done in the cloud, so the gameplay is basically streamed to the TV like a video.

No further details are available at this point. Users would certainly require a subscription to Xbox Game Pass to access the games library. The ability to do so on a TV without needing a console will certainly be welcomed by many.

Microsoft is expected to release this Samsung smart TV Xbox app in the next 12 months. Many will definitely hope that it does that sooner rather than later.
