Samsung tablets may not see competition from new iPads until March

Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S9 flagship series in July. Nearly three months later, the company introduced two new Fan Edition tablets under the Tab S9 FE label. And yesterday, Samsung announced the global launch of the low-cost Galaxy Tab A9 series.

It appears that Samsung has a tight grip on the tablet market. The company has a new tablet for almost every price point, and the Tab S9 and A9 lineups don't face any real competition from the Android side. But what about Apple?

Recent tidbits of information suggest it may take a few more months for Apple to respond to Samsung's aggressive push into the tablet market. According to a new report (via Bloomberg), Apple isn't planning to release any new iPads before March 2024.

Samsung has free rein over the tablet market. For now

Apple recently announced an upgraded version of its 2022 10th-gen iPad, but it was merely an eSIM-enabled refresh destined exclusively for China. In other words, Apple fans are still waiting for the company to make a move and announce a new iPad series.

According to the latest from Bloomberg, Apple will announce its next-gen iPads next year around March. The company might announce new versions of the iPad Air, the entry-level iPad, and the iPad mini.

Even though the Californian tech giant also appears to be working on revamping the iPad Pro, sources are more confident that Apple is planning to release at least the cheaper iPad models in March. It is implied that the iPad Pro refresh could have a different release date, but nothing's crystal clear.

Until March, at least, Samsung seemingly has free rein over the tablet market. The Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S9+, and Tab S9 Ultra are the high-end offerings covering three different price points, while the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+ fit somewhere in the middle, between the flagships and the cheaper Tab A9 and Tab A9+. In total, Samsung is offering seven new Galaxy tablets at different price points.
