Specifically, Samsung wants to get new employees on-board in 51 careers for its Device Solutions division, comprising its memory chip, foundry, and system LSI businesses. In the meantime, Samsung told its employees to work from home due to coronavirus concerns.
Samsung Electronics is standing out among 500 other major corporations in South Korea. A significant portion of these firms (one-fourth to be more precise) is reportedly cutting back on its workforce with no plans to hire new personnel throughout the first half of the year. But while some businesses are cutting back on their activities in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Samsung is seemingly doing the opposite.
Samsung's apparent decision to hire a record number of employees strongly indicates that the company hasn't given up on its ambitions to remain a semiconductor giant. A year ago, Samsung confirmed its plans to invest a whopping $115 billion in logic chip development by 2030. This year, Samsung's Device Solutions division will focus more on developing technologies for its next-gen chip production.
