New Galaxy Buds Pro update brings a handy new feature

The Galaxy Buds Pro are Samsung's highest-end truly wireless earphones, and they bring a combination of compact design, dual-driver setup, active noise cancellation, 360-degree audio, touch controls, fast charging, and wireless charging. However, they were actually missing a feature that was available on the cheaper Galaxy Buds+. Now, the company has added the feature to the Galaxy Buds Pro with a new update.

The latest software update for the Galaxy Buds Pro brings the ‘Double Tap Earbud Edge' feature. It allows users to increase or decrease the volume by double-tap gestures on the edge of the earbuds. This feature can be found in the Labs section of the Galaxy Wearable app. This frees up the Touch and Hold gesture to be used for activating the voice assistant, switching between ANC or Ambient Sound modes, or for launching Spotify.

The changelog also mentions that the new update also improves the ANC performance as well as the accuracy of the Voice Detect feature. Samsung is rolling out the new update to the Galaxy Buds Pro in South Korea. The update comes with firmware version R190XXU0AUD5 and has a download size of just over 2MB. To install the new update, you will need to update the Galaxy Buds Pro Plugin app to version 2.0.21042351.

We can expect Samsung to roll out this Galaxy Buds Pro update in other markets over the next few weeks. Samsung had released a couple of updates to these earbuds earlier this year to improve the ANC performance.

I’m never abandoning the Galaxy Buds and going back to wired headphones

After more than one year of using the Galaxy Buds Pro, I'm convinced I'm never going back to using wired headphones with my Galaxy smartphone or tablet. And not because the 3.5mm headphone port is gone. There's always the option to use a USB-C-to-3.5mm adapter if I really want to listen to music through a […]
