One UI 3.1 update brings Samsung DeX support to Galaxy Tab S6 Lite

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite started receiving the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update last week. The update brought a refreshed UI design and various other features to the mid-range tablet. However, most people failed to see that the update also brought a major feature to the device: Samsung DeX.

With the One UI 3.1 update, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite received support for Samsung DeX, but we still don’t know if it works wirelessly with monitors and TVs. The feature brings desktop-like UI to the tablet, allowing users to do tasks more efficiently while using the S Pen or when connected to an external display via a cable. DeX Mode is ideal when it is used with a keyboard and a mouse.

Given the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite’s Exynos 9611 processor, the performance of Samsung DeX might not be extremely smooth, but it is still great that the South Korean firm brought such a huge feature to its year-old mid-range tablet. Thanks to the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite’s big screen, DeX could become a handy feature for users.

You can see the DeX Mode working on the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite in the video below. The Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update also brought refreshed UI design, one-time permissions, permissions auto reset, media player widget in the quick settings section, conversations section in the notifications area, improved apps, and more to the tablet.

Samsung DeX keeps improving with every new major firmware update, and both One UI 5.0 and One UI 5.1 have brought the desktop experience on mobile closer to perfection. But perfect, Samsung DeX is not. At least not yet. We believe there are a few ways in which the desktop experience on Galaxy devices could […]

I don’t hate iPhones. I just can’t live without my Galaxy phone

I don’t hate iPhones. I just can’t live without my Galaxy phone

I don’t count myself among those who hate the iPhone. I may not agree with Apple’s prices and practices sometimes, but I can’t say that I love or hate the company’s iOS-powered smartphones. I’m somewhere in the middle. I could live with an iPhone as my daily driver without ever using an Android device again, […]

Best Samsung Galaxy Tablets in March 2023

Nobody makes Android tablets the way Samsung does. The company is an outlier as it still comes out with a flagship Android tablet every year. As part of the company’s vision to offer something for everyone, Samsung’s lineup also includes mid-range and affordable options. Its flagship tablets have really come into their own over the […]

Samsung’s ridiculous tablet keyboard cover prices are hurting DeX

Samsung’s ridiculous tablet keyboard cover prices are hurting DeX

As much as I enjoy using numerous Samsung hardware and software products, one of the areas I very much dislike about the company’s mobile business is how it markets keyboard cover accessories for Galaxy tablets. In short, I think Samsung’s tablet keyboard cover accessories are ridiculously pricey. I’ve complained about this before, but now that […]

There is a way to lower input lag when using Samsung DeX wirelessly

There is a way to lower input lag when using Samsung DeX wirelessly

Samsung DeX is a fantastic mobile desktop environment with great potential, but it isn’t the most powerful solution for a PC replacement you could find. Every little bit of performance gain counts, and as such, Samsung DeX is best used directly on-device on tablets or by connecting a Galaxy phone or tablet to a TV […]

Why I keep using Samsung DeX, and why not a Chromebook?

Why I keep using Samsung DeX, and why not a Chromebook?

I started doing office work exclusively on Samsung DeX a year ago, and I figured it was time for a yearly update on my journey. When I began using DeX on my Galaxy Note 10 — before switching to the Galaxy S22+ — I didn’t think I’d get this much usage out of Samsung’s desktop […]
