The Galaxy S25 series brings several camera improvements. Some of those improvements come through camera hardware upgrades, while most of them are via improved ISP and software. But does that new software bring a 24MP resolution setting in the main camera, or is it still limited to Expert RAW?
24MP option in Galaxy S25 camera is limited to Expert RAW
Many people hoped that Samsung would bring a 24MP resolution option for capturing images in the Galaxy S25's regular Photo mode. Unfortunately, it didn't. The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra can capture 24MP images only in their Expert RAW camera mode.
The 24MP resolution option was introduced with the Galaxy S24 last year. It uses details from the 50MP/200MP sensor and colors and dynamic range from the 12MP mode to create a 24MP image that has lower noise, higher details, and a wider dynamic range. Samsung may have drawn inspiration for it from the 24MP setting in the iPhone 14 series.
Nonetheless, Samsung hasn't expanded its availability to Photo mode. So, it looks like Samsung is still on the fence about the effectiveness of the feature for general users.
