Samsung took the wraps off three new high-end phones today. Its latest flagship lineup consists of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ are incredibly similar, save for their screen sizes and battery capacities.

Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ use Snapdragon 8 Elite chip globally

Samsung hasn't made any significant design changes to the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ compared to their predecessors. They both use an Armor Aluminum frame with flat sides and rounded corners. Both phones have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and stereo speakers.

The Galaxy S25 has a 6.2-inch screen with Full HD+ resolution, while the Galaxy S25+ has a 6.7-inch screen with QHD+ resolution. Both phones use a Dynamic AMOLED 2x LTPO panel with a 1Hz-120Hz variable refresh rate, HDR10+, and 2,600 nits peak brightness. They also have an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

The company has managed to trim the bezels even further. The measurements of new phones are listed below.

  • Galaxy S25: 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2mm, 164g
  • Galaxy S25+: 158.4 x 75.8 x 7.3mm, 190g

Both models use Qualcomm's latest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite For Galaxy. It is a 3nm chip with two prime CPU cores, six high-performance CPU cores, and the Adreno 830 GPU. This high-performance chip is cooled using a 15% bigger vapor chamber cooling system compared to the Galaxy S24.

You can read more about the chip in our detailed story about it. It offers much faster processing, especially in CPU and AI-oriented tasks. Its NPU brings more powerful Galaxy AI features.

The Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ have 12GB RAM. They come in 256GB and 512GB storage variants.

Both phones run Android 15 (with One UI 7.0) out of the box. Samsung has promised to offer them seven major Android OS updates. The devices will also get security updates for up to seven years. This is the longest software support commitment in the entire smartphone industry.

The Galaxy S25 is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and supports 25W fast wired charging. The Galaxy S25+ has a 4,900mAh battery, supporting up to 45W fast wired charging.

Both phones support 15W fast wireless charging and 4.5W Wireless PowerShare.

Galaxy S25 and S25+ camera hardware remains unchanged

Samsung hasn't changed the camera hardware compared to the Galaxy S24 series. The Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ have a 12MP selfie camera with autofocus and an F2.2 aperture.

On the rear, the phones have a 50MP primary camera (1/1.56-inch, F/1.8 aperture) with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera with an F2.2 aperture, and a 10MP telephoto camera (F2.4 aperture, OIS) and 3x optical zoom. All four cameras can record up to 4K 60fps videos, while the primary camera can record up to 8K 30fps videos.

While the hardware hasn't been upgraded, the new chip offers improved processing. The upgraded ProVisual Engine, Spatial Temporal Filter, and Double Analysis Noise Removal features bring higher details, improved dynamic range, richer colors, and lower noise.

Upgraded Nightography results in images and videos with lower noise and higher details in low-light conditions. The phones can capture 10-bit HDR videos by default and can record videos in log format for flatter colors. Log videos can be color-corrected directly inside the Gallery app.

New Galaxy AI features

Both phones have new and improved Galaxy AI features.

The Now Bar displays relevant information according to the time of the day. In the morning, it will display the weather, your sleep stats, and your Energy Score. When you are about to travel to work, it will suggest starting Google Maps navigation and your commute music playlist. In the evening, it will display your step count and memories (images captured) from that day.

Using the built-in video editor and its Audio Eraser feature, you can remove unwanted noises like wind from videos.

Samsung has also added support for more languages for things like Call Assist and Live Translate, and more Galaxy AI features can perform on-device processing on the Galaxy S25 series.

Other features

The Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ have built-in GNSS (BDS, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, and QZSS), 5G (sub-6GHz), a nano SIM card slot, an eSIM, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a USB 3.2 Type-C port.

Galaxy S25 and S25+ colors

Both phones will have seven color variants, but three of those colors will remain exclusive to Samsung's online store, and their availability will vary by country.

  • Blue Black (Online Exclusive)
  • Coral Red (Online Exclusive)
  • Icy Blue
  • Mint
  • Navy
  • Pink Gold (Online Exclusive)
  • Silver Shadow

The phones will be available for pre-order today in many countries. You can find detailed pricing and availability (and shipping dates) information in this article.
