Last month, Samsung rolled out two software updates to the Galaxy S22 series smartphones. The first update brought the Android 13 OS along with One UI 5.0 customization, while the second update offered the November 2022 security patch. Now, Samsung has started rolling out December 2022 security patch to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The new OTA software update that’s being rolled out to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with firmware version S908EXXU2BVKM. Currently, this new update is rolling out in eleven countries, including India, Israel, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Thailand (MPT, Mectel), Turkey, the UAE, and Vietnam.
The December 2022 security patch for Samsung devices fixes a total of 93 security vulnerabilities. Among those, 67 fixes are from Google and 26 are from Samsung. The 67 security fixes from Google include 63 fixes that have been marked as “high priority.” As for the 26 security fixes from Samsung's end, 12 have been marked as “moderate” in the company's monthly security bulletin.
Your Galaxy S22 should automatically prompt you to update the smartphone to the latest software version. But if it doesn’t do that, you can check for the update manually by heading over to Settings » Software Update and tapping Download and install. Alternatively, you can also download the new firmware from our firmware database and flash it manually.
