Introduction
At the first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025, Samsung confirmed its plans to expand the Galaxy S flagship lineup with the addition of a brand-new model.
Called the Galaxy S25 Edge (previously referred to Galaxy S25 Slim in rumors), this fourth model reinterprets the definition of the flagship phone by straying from the usual formula and adopting different design principles and core values.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is considerably thinner than other slab-type Samsung smartphones and has a new camera philosophy.
Design
Similar to the rest of the Galaxy S25 series, the new Galaxy S25 Edge model has flat panels and a flat frame with rounded corners.
Despite the Edge name heritage, this new S25 variant does not have a curved display that wraps around the frame.
Samsung redefined what Edge means, and instead of associating the well-known brand with a curved display, Samsung is now linking it with the phone's thin profile — and perhaps some of its other cutting-edge characteristics.
As of this writing, the exact dimensions are unknown. Rumors say the Galaxy S25 Edge measures 159 x 76 x 6.4mm, but the phone looked extremely thin at Samsung's Unpacked demo booth. It might be even thinner than the rumors predicted.
From the front, the Galaxy S25 Edge looks like the other models, complete with a flat display and an Infinity-O cutout. From the sides, it's unnaturally thin. And from the back, the phone has an unusual dual camera setup.
Both cameras and the LED flash sit on an oblong island. A circular ring that protrudes from the island surrounds each camera.
At Unpacked, Samsung showed the Galaxy S25 Edge in one color option — a plain gray finish. Others may become available at launch.
Specifications
The Galaxy S25 Edge could rock the 7-core version of Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. The other S25 flagships sport the full-fledged 8-core version.
The phone could feature 128GB/256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. Samsung may also sell a Galaxy S25 Edge configuration with 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM.
As expected, the slim device doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone port or expandable storage. It should be equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Finally, the Galaxy S25 Edge may have a 3,900-4,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging capabilities. It is unclear of the phone supports Qi2 accessories and chargers like the rest of the Galaxy S25 series.
Display
Details about the Galaxy S25 Edge's screen specifications are few, but the phone should feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel. Whether it has a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate and matches the S25's 2,600 nits of brightness is unknown.
Likewise, it's unclear what type of display protection the Galaxy S25 Edge employs. The panel could have a resolution of 1080 x 2400 or thereabout.
Camera
Aside from its slim profile, the camera setup is the other characteristic that truly sets the Galaxy S25 Edge apart from other models in the S series.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is equipped with only two cameras instead of the usual three or four, but they might defy expectations. The primary shooter is said to have a 200MP resolution, and the ultra-wide sensor should clock in at 50MP.
The phone doesn't seem to have a dedicated telephoto camera, and whether or not it sports Galaxy S25 features like LOG video recording remains to be seen.
At the front, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to feature a 10MP selfie camera.
Software and features
Samsung's new Galaxy S25 Edge should ship with the latest version of One UI 7. The phone is expected to benefit from all the One UI and Galaxy AI improvements as the rest of the S25 series, including:
- Improved Generative AI features for Browsing Assist, Sketch to Image, and more.
- Now Brief.
- Now Bar with Google Sports support.
- A redesigned quick panel.
- A new blur engine.
- Redesigned Samsung app icons.
- A new Nearby Devices UI.
Like other Samsung flagships, the Galaxy S25 Edge will likely benefit from seven OS upgrades and eight years of security patches.
Availability and price
Samsung hasn't confirmed the Galaxy S25 Edge's pricing and release date.
In terms of value, rumors say the phone will be positioned between the Galaxy S25+ and the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
As for its debut, the Galaxy S25 Edge could go on sale in April. Whether it will launch globally on the same day or have a staggered by-region release is to be determined.
