After the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S20 series has started getting the latest security update. The August 2022 security patch is now rolling out in Germany. We expect Galaxy S20 units in other European countries and other parts of the world to get the update soon.

The latest software update for the Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20+ 5G, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G comes with firmware version G98xBXXUEFVG5. For the LTE variants of these smartphones, the update bears firmware version G980FXXUEFVG5. The new update includes the August 2022 security patch that fixes dozens of security vulnerabilities.

If you are a Galaxy S20 user in Germany, you can download the new update right away. Just head over to Settings » Software update on your phone and then tap on Download and install. You can also download the appropriate firmware file from our database and flash it manually.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series in early 2020 with Android 10 on board. The phones received the Android 11 update in early 2021 and the Android 12 update earlier this year.
