The Android 12-based One UI 4.1 update for the Galaxy A42 5G comes with firmware version A426U1UEU3BVD5. This update is meant for the carrier-unlocked version of the phone, and it brings Android 12 along with One UI 4.1 and the March 2022 security patch. The update is currently available on Bluegrass Cellular's network. More carriers are expected to release the update on their networks within the next few days.
If you are a Galaxy A42 5G user in the US, you can now download and install the Android 12 update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
The Android 12 update for the Galaxy A42 5G brings a revamped UI design with the Color Palette feature, new widget styling, an improved widget picker, and a better sharing menu. Samsung has also improved all the stock apps, including Device Care, Samsung Calendar, Samsung Internet, Samsung Keyboard, and Samsung My Files. Bixby and Bixby Routines have received various new options and conditions.
The mid-range smartphone also gets improved privacy and tighter security through privacy indicators (for camera and microphone usage), Privacy Dashboard, and quick setting toggles to enable/disable camera and microphone across the system. AR Emoji and Accessibility features have been improved, too. Samsung has added Object Eraser, Shadow Eraser, and Reflection Eraser to the Gallery app.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy A42 5G in the second half of 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The phone received the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update early last year and the Android 12 update this year.
