Earlier this month, Samsung released the May 2023 security update to the Galaxy S22 in Latin America. The update was then expanded to other markets, including Asia, Europe, and the US (unlocked units). Now, the update is rolling out to the carrier-locked units of the Galaxy S22 series in the US.

Galaxy S22 May 2023 security update: What's new?

The new software update for the carrier-locked units of Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra bumps up the firmware version to S90xUSQS2CWE1. The update is currently available on Metro PCS and T-Mobile networks in the US. Other carrier networks in the country are expected to release the update in the next few days.

The May 2023 security patch included in the new software fixes over 70 security flaws found in Galaxy phones and tablets. The update doesn't bring any new features.

If you have a carrier-locked Galaxy S22 unit in the US, you can now check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and flash it manually. Samsung could update the Galaxy S22 to Android 14 by the end of this year.
