Soon after the announcement of the Galaxy S23, Samsung started rolling out the One UI 5.1 update to its high-end smartphones. The Galaxy S20 series received the update three weeks ago, but was limited to international units. The carrier-locked models in the Galaxy S20 series have started getting the One UI 5.1 update.

The One UI 5.1 update for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra is available in the US. It comes with firmware version G98xUSQU3HWB5 and includes the February 2023 security patch. The update is available on T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Xfinity Mobile networks.

If you have a carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, or Galaxy S20 Ultra in the US, you can download the One UI 5.1 update on your phone by heading to Settings » Software update, and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and flash it manually.

Galaxy S20 One UI 5.1 update: New features

The One UI 5.1 update brings an improved way to change the selfie color tone in the stock Camera app. There is also an Expert RAW shortcut right within the stock Camera app. The Gallery app now shows EXIF information of images and videos when you swipe them up. You can even edit EXIF information. The app now allows searching for more than one person or subject. The image remastering feature has been improved as well. You can also create a Shared Family Album to share images and videos with family members using a Galaxy phone or tablet.

When multitasking, you can minimize or maximize an app's window by dragging one of its corners. In split-screen multitasking mode, the phone displays frequently accessed apps first to make things faster. In Samsung DeX, split-screen multitasking mode makes it easier to adjust window sizes, thanks to the new window divider.

The Modes And Routines app allows changing the wallpaper based on modes. The app has also received many more features and conditions, including font style, ringtone, touch sensitivity, and wallpaper. The Weather app now shows all the relevant information at first glance and has an hourly precipitation graph. It also gets a new dynamic weather widget.

Samsung Internet's tabs browsed on the phone are visible on a paired Windows PC through the Windows Phone Link app. The search feature in Samsung Internet now shows results from bookmarks and browsing history. The One UI 5.1 update also brings Bixby Text Call, which can listen to what the caller is saying and convert it into text, and suggests replies on the screen that you can click, and those replies will be converted into voice and relayed on your behalf.

A new battery widget displays the battery charge levels of the phone and its connected accessories. The Settings app now displays search suggestions. The Smart Suggestions widget now displays music and playlist recommendation from Spotify. One UI 5.1 allows you to choose the folder where you want screenshots to be saved.
