Samsung's Galaxy Tab S tablets with AMOLED displays to be announced on June 11?

We've been hearing a lot about Samsung's new Galaxy Tab S family of tablets – which will reintroduce AMOLED displays in the company's tablet lineup – in recent days, with SamMobile publishing the first exclusive photos and complete specs of the 10.5-inch variants. What we didn't know is when Samsung would officially announce the Galaxy Tab S, but if the folks over at Hi-Tech.Mail.Ru are to be believed, the AMOLED tablets could make their debut in an event in New York on June 11. That's less than a month away, and it's possible that the company will unveil its 13.3-inch tablet as well, though that is expected to feature an LCD display.

The specs of the Galaxy Tab S include 2560×1600 displays in 8.4 and 10.5-inch variants, an octa-core Exynos 5420 CPU with four 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS/GLONASS, and LTE connectivity, an IR blaster, and Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung's Magazine UX. Like the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy Tab S will feature a fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button, and will come in Wi-Fi and LTE variants, at least at launch.

Update: According to the Wall Street Journal, the event will take place on June 12 in New York, so it remains to be seen which of the two dates Samsung has actually selected.
