Samsung has just one-upped its own foldable phones with the release of the W23 and W23 Flip in China. They're available starting today, and they boast more memory by default. On the other hand, the W23 series is also considerably pricier than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 for the global market.

In case you missed the news, Samsung announced an October 21 release date for its W23 series in China earlier this week. The two phones are reskinned and renamed Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4s, and they're now available in China exclusively with 16GB of RAM and 12GB of RAM, respectively, as well as 512GB of built-in storage. There are no other memory options available.

As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in other markets is available with 12GB of RAM and 256GB / 512GB / 1TB of storage, whereas the Galaxy Z Flip 4 for the global market features 8GB of RAM and 128/256/512GB of storage.

The W23 foldable phone series commands a super premium price

The Samsung W23 foldable phone series is launching in the Far Eastern country through a partnership with China Telecom. And to differentiate the W23 series from the regular Galaxy Z 4 models, the two new phones have adopted a unique exterior finish. The W23 and the W23 Flip are available in a black finish with golden elements around the frame and hinge.

This exclusivity and the additional RAM command a higher price than the Z Fold 4 / Z Flip 4 in Europe and other markets. Samsung is selling the W23 for 15,999 Yuan ($2,208), while the W23 Flip is available for 9,999 Yuan ($1,380).

No 16GB Galaxy Z Fold 4 or 12GB Galaxy Z Flip 4 models exist anywhere else in the world, but even so, the W23 series seems rather pricy in comparison. Keep in mind that the 12GB+512GB Galaxy Z Fold 4 costs $1,919, and the 8GB+512GB Galaxy Z Flip 4 costs $1,179, excluding discounts, of which there have been many.
