From the Galaxy Z Fold 4 to the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung has equipped every model in the lineup with the same 15W wireless charging speed. While that's sufficient for most users, many have been asking Samsung to offer faster wireless charging, especially as Chinese smartphone brands continue to push the limits.
Their wish may finally come true with Samsung's next book-style foldable phones: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
According to a post by Lazuk (yeux1122) on Naver, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will support 20W wireless charging. While that's only a modest 5W increase over its predecessor, the upgrade would still mark the first improvement to wireless charging speeds in Samsung's book-style foldable lineup in years.
That said, recent leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a larger battery than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (4,800mAh vs 4,400mAh). If that's the case, the higher charging speed may simply offset the increase in battery capacity, resulting in charging times that are similar to the current model.
As for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Samsung could equip it with the same 20W wireless charging or an even faster solution, as it is a more advanced model. However, no details about its wireless charging capabilities have surfaced yet.
