Yesterday, Samsung opened the One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2) beta program for the Galaxy A55. The update bringing the first beta version of the new software also offered the April 2026 security patch, which fixes 47 security vulnerabilities. Now, the brand is rolling out the latest security patch to the Galaxy A55 units running on One UI 8.0 (Android 16) as well.
So far, Samsung has released it in India. The update that brings it is 296.34MB in size and carries firmware version A556EXXSECZD1. However, it isn’t the only Galaxy A5x series phone getting the latest security update. The company has released the April 2026 security patch for the Galaxy A53 as well. Currently, it is available in Korea (firmware version A536NKSSGGZD1).
To get the April 2026 security patch on the Galaxy A55 and the Galaxy A53, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. We will make their latest firmware available in our database soon. You can download it from our firmware section and install it manually using Odin.
The Galaxy A53 is also eligible to get One UI 8.5. However, the brand may not open the new software's beta program for the device. Instead, the company may directly release the stable build. We expect that to happen in the next few weeks, or at most, within the next three months.
