Samsung has had excellent business in the first quarter of this year. The company's Galaxy S24 series, launched in January, has been very successful. The new smartphone lineup broke several pre-order records in multiple countries. As a result, Samsung has smashed its internal target for manufacturing phones and tablets.

Samsung aims to ship 253 million smartphones in 2024

According to a new report from TheELEC, Samsung manufactured more phones and tablets than planned in Q1 2024. It made more than 65.4 million smartphones and tablets, 22% higher than the initial target of 53 million. This number excludes the phones manufactured by its contractor, Wingtech. The company reportedly aims to ship around 253 million Galaxy phones, of which 51 million would be from the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Z series.

Apparently, Samsung has secured enough units of its bar-style Galaxy smartphones before the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 launch, which will happen in July 2024. Due to good sales of the Galaxy S24 worldwide and other affordable and mid-range phones in India, Samsung received this manufacturing boost.

Samsung Display, which supplies OLED panels to Samsung MX (smartphone division), has also been running at full speed due to higher sales of Galaxy phones and tablets. Samsung Display's A2 line, which makes rigid OLED panels (used in Galaxy A, Galaxy F, and Galaxy M phones), is reportedly running at 80% of its peak capacity.
