Samsung is the first phone manufacturer to embrace AI as both a primary feature and strategy to drive sales. The Galaxy S24 series was Samsung's first phone to hit the market and introduce Galaxy AI, and it appears that Samsung's approach may have paid off. A new study shows that one-fourth of Galaxy S24 users purchased this flagship because of at least one of the exclusive Galaxy AI features.

According to data collected by Worldpanel ComTech (via Mobile Europe), one in four Galaxy S24 buyers in France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, the USA, and Australia say that AI was a key reason they picked Samsung's new AI-enabled phone.

More specifically, the study shows that within the community of Galaxy S24 buyers who bought the phone because of AI, 28% want to use the Interpreter, 24% want AI Camera and Gallery enhancements, and 17% based their purchase decision on Circle to Search.

    Galaxy AI is spreading

Although Samsung was the first to heavily promote AI as a key component of a new flagship phone, other mobile OEMs are taking notice of the company's success with Galaxy AI, and industry watchers expect they will adjust their strategies accordingly.

Even Samsung is working on bringing Galaxy AI to more customers. Although the Galaxy S24 series was the first to adopt AI features, Samsung has already updated its 2023 high-end phones with Galaxy AI features.

More so, the company recently said that Galaxy AI will be coming to more devices soon, but whether that means both older phones and upcoming phones is unclear. We know the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 will have Galaxy AI, but as far as older-than-2023 phones go, their fate remains unclear.

Samsung is also contemplating offering more advanced AI features for a fee. The company says it is watching closely to see where the customer's needs lie and how it can further improve the user experience through AI. However, more complex and powerful AI tools of the future could cost extra.
