When Apple opened pre-orders for the Vision Pro, it revealed the specifications sheet of the mixed-reality headset, where, the company says that the battery of the Vision Pro can offer two hours of general use or two and a half hours of video playback. However, Apple, in the company’s typical way, hasn’t revealed the capacity of the battery. Well, thanks to Aaron Perris from MacRumors, we now know the capacity of the Vision Pro’s battery.

In a post on X (previously known as Twitter), Aaron reveals that the battery of the Vision Pro, which carries model number A2781, has a capacity of 35.9 watt-hour (Wh) and a maximum output of 13 volts (V). So, if you do the math (Wh/Vx1,000), that would be 2,761 milliampere-hour (mAh). However, in the post, Aaron says that the capacity of the battery is 3,166mAh. So, there seems to be some mistake in the post with Wh, mAh, or V numbers.

Vision Pro’s battery is three times larger than iPhone 15 Pro’s battery

At this point, you might be thinking that the battery of the Vision Pro is smaller than that of the iPhone 15 Pro, which has a capacity of 3,274mAh, and that it is kind of disappointing. Well, that’s not the case. That’s because the battery of the iPhone 15 Pro is rated at around 3.8V, whereas, that of the Vision Pro, like I mentioned earlier, is rated at 13V.

That means, at the voltage that the iPhone 15 Pro’s battery is rated, the capacity of the Vision Pro’s battery is 9,447mAh (35.9/3.8×1,000). In short, the battery capacity of the Vision Pro is almost three times higher than that of the iPhone 15 Pro, or you could say that the battery capacity of the Vision Pro is equivalent to that of a 10,000mAh power bank.

Vision Pro goes on sale in the US tomorrow

Apple will make the Vision Pro available to purchase in the United States tomorrow (2 February 2024). However, the deliveries of the headset are back-ordered into March as the initial demand for the product was much higher than Apple had predicted. Fortunately, there will be no shortage of content for the Vision Pro when it goes on sale as Apple plans to offer a wide collection of 3D movies and spatial games for the headset at launch.
