Unlocked Galaxy S20 units get November 2023 update in the USA

The Galaxy S20 series is not eligible to get Android 14/One UI 6, but Samsung will continue to regularly release security updates for the S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra for another year or so. The most current security update for the Galaxy S20 lineup was released in various markets a week ago, and it is now making its way to unlocked units in the US.

Galaxy S20's November update is as bland as it gets

The November update is available for unlocked Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra units stateside and has a firmware version that ends in HWK1. As expected, there is nothing of interest here except for the latest security patch. The Galaxy S20 lineup was updated to One UI 5.1 a couple of months back, and it's unlikely Samsung will bring any more feature updates for it (though it's possible some camera features from the Galaxy S24 will come to the Galaxy S20 at some point).

The November 2023 security patch fixes 60+ vulnerabilities in Android and One UI, along with some vulnerabilities that can be exploited on Galaxy devices with certain Exynos processors. However, the Exynos 990 inside the Galaxy S20 series is not affected, and even if it was, the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra in the US would be safe as they are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.

You can grab the November update for your Galaxy S20 series phone from its Settings » Software update menu, or you can upgrade it by flashing the full-sized firmware that you can download from our firmware library.
