Google has been consistently adding new features to Wear OS over the past couple of years, and the latest feature to come to Wear OS is a tile for Google Assistant. This new feature is rolling out to all Wear OS 3 and Wear OS 4-based smartwatches, so Galaxy Watch 4 and newer wearables should get it soon.

A few days ago, it was revealed that Google Assistant would get its own tile on Wear OS smartwatches, bringing one more way of accessing the digital voice assistant. And that feature has started rolling out to Wear OS smartwatches. You could soon see the new feature on Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 6 series devices. What's more interesting is that it's not just a shortcut to activate voice commands. The tile also brings custom shortcuts for Google Assistant commands.

For example, you can add custom shortcuts for ‘Turn on the hallway lights” or “Send a message to mom,” and those shortcuts would be visible on the tile for Google Assistant. With just a swipe, you can access these two custom shortcuts or activate Google Assistant for any other voice command.

Over the past few months, several first-party and third-party apps have been released for Wear OS smartwatches, including AllTrails, Audible, Google Calendar, Gmail, MyFitnessPal, Pocket Casts, and WhatsApp. Most of these apps also come with watch face complications or tiles for quicker access to features without opening the app.

The Galaxy experience can be messy for first-time users

Some say it's always better to have more options, but it's never as clear-cut as it sounds. This design philosophy doesn't always work, and more importantly, it isn't a magical shortcut that can patch everything up and always lead to a better user experience.
