Late last year, Google promised to release more apps for Wear OS-based smartwatches. After the launch of the Gmail app for Wear OS last week, Google has now released the Google Calendar app for all recent Wear OS smartwatches, including Samsung's compatible Galaxy Watches.

Google Calendar Wear OS app is now available

The Google Calendar app is now available for Wear OS 3 (or newer) smartwatches through the Google Play Store. The app is very simple and even lacks a month or week view. It just shows calendar entries and syncs with the default Google account that's used on a paired smartwatch. You can click on each entry to view its details, such as reminders and location, but you can't edit it.

It does feature a tile and a watch face complication, though. There are two tiles: one that shows the next calendar event, and the other shows the next tasks from Google Tasks. You can install the app on your Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatches.

Google and Samsung have immensely improved Wear OS over the past three years. They are also encouraging third-party developers to create more apps for Wear OS smartwatches. Over the past few months, AllTrails, Audible, Google Home, MyFitnessPal, and WhatsApp have released Wear OS smartwatches.
