Samsung has updated one more phone with the latest security update. The Galaxy S20 FE has started getting the October 2023 security update across Asia and Europe. The phones haven't received the new security update in other regions, such as North America, yet, but we expect that to happen in the next few days.

Galaxy S20 FE and S20 FE 5G get October 2023 security update in Asia and Europe

The latest software update for the Galaxy S20 FE (SM-G780G) comes with firmware version G780GXXS7EWI3 in Australia, Europe, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. This is the Snapdragon version of the phone that only has LTE connectivity. The Galaxy S20 FE 5G (SM-G781B) has started getting the update in Europe with firmware version G781BXXS8HWI3. The Exynos 990 version of the Galaxy S20 FE is yet to get the new software update. This update fixes plenty of security flaws found in the previous software version of the phone.

If you have a Galaxy S20 FE (Snapdragon LTE) or a Galaxy S20 FE 5G in any of the countries mentioned above, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also choose to download the latest appropriate firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE with Android 10 onboard in 2020. Later that year, the phone received the Android 11 update, while the Android 12 update was released to the device in late 2021. The device received the Android 13 update toward the end of 2023. It won't get the Android 14 update that Samsung is currently testing for a few eligible phones.

Author's Note: The Galaxy S20 FE won't get the Android 14 or any major software update going forward. However, it will continue to get security updates for two more years (once every three months for the next year and once every six months a year after that). If you want to continue to use Samsung's latest One UI version, you should think about upgrading to the Galaxy S23 or the Galaxy S23 FE.

The Galaxy S23 FE is a good upgrade over the Galaxy S20 FE as it brings a brighter screen, improved front and rear cameras, a faster processor, a more premium design, and longer battery life. You can view our Galaxy S23 FE video below to know its features.
