Galaxy S22 Snapdragon models getting October security update

The rollout of the October 2023 security update for Galaxy smartphones is picking up pace, following a release to select devices last week. The Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra were among the early birds – a week ago, the 2022 flagship lineup received the update in the USA, where the Snapdragon-powered variants are sold.

And now, the Snapdragon version of the Galaxy S22 series is getting the update — firmware version ending in CWI1 — internationally. It is available for carrier variants in a couple of markets at this time, but the unlocked models are likely in the queue and will catch up in the coming days. That goes for the Exynos-powered models sold in Europe as well.

This is the same update as the one that was released in the US, so you will not see any new features or improvements to existing functionality, only the fixes included in the October 2023 security patch. That's down to the fact that Samsung is currently working on Android 14 and One UI 6.0, an upgrade that will bring plenty of changes (see the video above), for the Galaxy S22 lineup (in addition to a few other devices).

As per usual, the latest update for your Galaxy S22, S22+, or S22 Ultra can be downloaded over the air from the phone's Settings » Software update menu. The other way to get on the latest software is to download firmware for your device and model from our archives and install it on the phone by connecting it to a Windows PC with a USB-C cable.
