Data from market research firm Korea Investment & Securities (via @Tech_Reve) indicates that cumulative Galaxy S23 sales reached 18.63 million during the first six months of availability. Compared to the Galaxy S22 flagships in their first six months on the market, Galaxy S23 sales increased by around 23%.

By model, the research firm says that Samsung sold 8.89 million Galaxy S23 Ultra models, 3.31 million Galaxy S23+ models, and 6.43 million base models. The smaller Galaxy S23 appears to have outsold the Galaxy S23+, but neither reached the Ultra's heights.
This data corresponds somewhat to the number of Galaxy S23 Ultra shipments recorded by Omdia. According to the latter, Samsung shipped 9.6 million Galaxy S23 Ultra units in the first half of 2023. Evidently, there always will be a discrepancy between shipment figures and sales, as well as the methodologies used by different market researchers.
Samsung appears to have created a successful Galaxy S flagship series for 2023, but 2024 will be even more interesting to watch. The upcoming Galaxy S24 series might be going through more changes than the S23 did compared to its predecessor. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, especially, may sport a complete redesign with flat panels. It will be interesting to see if Samsung can maintain its upward trajectory next year.
In any case, 2023 is not over yet, the Galaxy S24 lineup is relatively far from release, and the Galaxy S23 series remains the best Samsung has to offer in the non-foldable phone department. Meanwhile, Apple is getting ready to announce its next iPhones in H2, which might mean Galaxy S23 sales will take a dip.
