Earlier this week, Samsung started rolling out the July 2023 security update to some of its phones and tablets. That update is now reaching the Galaxy Z Fold 2, and it is interesting to note that the carrier-locked version of the phone for the US market is the first to get the update. Usually, the carrier-locked versions of phones used to be last in the line to get the update. However, the situation has reversed now.

The latest software update for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes with firmware version F916USQS3JWF3. The update is rolling out in the US on Sprint and T-Mobile's networks. Other carriers could soon release the update. It brings the July 2023 security patch, and going by the firmware version, no new feature additions and performance enhancements are included in the new update.

According to Samsung's security bulletin, its July 2023 security patch fixes over 90 security vulnerabilities in Galaxy phones and tablets. More than 50 of those are also found in Android devices from other brands.

If you have a carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in the US, you can now check for the new update by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. You would need a Windows PC and the Odin tool for the manual process.
