Nearby Share now works even when device screens are turned off

According to the latest reports, the Nearby Share is gaining one more subtle feature that would make sharing between devices super convenient. Nearby Share can send files to devices even when their screens are turned off. Previously, devices with their screens turned on were visible to Nearby Share on the sender's device, which was done to save battery life.

Now, as per GreenShades9, Nearby Share can also send files to a sleeping device. Multiple users have confirmed this feature is working for them as well. However, one thing to note is that this Nearby Share feature that sends files to sleeping devices works only if both the sender and receiver are signed into the same Google account.
