Every new version of Android comes with more features and notification improvements. However, full-screen notifications are something that users still don’t have control over. You might have seen full-screen notifications for alarms, voice calls, and video calls, even if the phone is locked. For example, when the alarm is ringing, you can't see any other content on the lock screen.

Well, that won't be the case anymore, thanks to Android 14.

You can stop full-screen notifications on Android 14

As discovered by Android expert Mishaal Rahman, Android 14 has an option that allows you to stop apps from sending full-screen notifications. With this feature enabled, full-screen notifications will appear on your device in the same format as other notifications.

For example, if you stop WhatsApp from sending full-screen notifications, voice and video call notifications will appear the same way as other notifications. You can then expand this notification to access the ‘Answer’ and ‘Decline’ buttons. A lot less disruptive, isn’t it? Mishaal demonstrated feature working in a neat side-by-side comparison video. You can stop apps from sending full-screen notifications by navigating to Settings » Apps » Special App Access » Manage Full-Screen Intents.

You can expect this feature to be a part of the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update for Samsung phones and tablets. One UI 6.0 could start becoming available from September 2023 to these Galaxy devices.
