    Samsung’s first OLED gaming monitor is now available in the US

    Samsung is a dominant force in the gaming monitor segment. And to further expand its market share in the premium segment, the company unveiled its first OLED gaming monitor—Odyssey OLED G8—five months ago. Now, that ultrawide gaming monitor is available for purchase in the US.

    The Odyssey OLED G8 is priced at $1,499 in the US, and you can purchase it starting today from Samsung's website and other retailers that deal in gaming monitors.  Samsung also unveiled the Odyssey OLED G9, a 49-inch super ultrawide gaming monitor, and it will be available later this year.

    Samsung Odyssey OLED G8

    Samsung's Odyssey OLED G8 is a 34-inch gaming monitor with a QD-OLED curved panel. It has a 3,440 x 1,440 pixels resolution, a 21:9 aspect ratio, HDR10+, a 175Hz variable refresh rate, a 0.03ms pixel response time, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. It has VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, which means it can reach a peak brightness of 400 nits, but its typical brightness is around 250 nits. It also features built-in stereo speakers and far-field microphones.

    It runs Tizen and comes with a remote controller. You can access all the popular audio and video streaming apps, including Samsung Health, SmartThings, Alexa, Bixby, and Google Duo. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, two USB Type-C ports with DisplayPort, a Micro HDMI port, and a Mini Display port. Its stand supports height adjustment as well as tilt and pivot adjustments.

    Other features include DLNA, screen mirroring, Tap View, sound mirroring, Samsung TV Plus, Microsoft 365, Samsung Gaming Hub, Auto Source Switch+, and RGB lighting on the rear.
