Samsung usually announces its Galaxy S series flagship phones in mid-January or February and releases them in February or March. However, the company could take a page from its Galaxy S21 playbook and launch the Galaxy S27 series earlier than it has in recent years.
Tipster Lanzuk, who has a solid track record with Samsung leaks, claims the company plans to launch the Galaxy S27 series in early January 2027. That would be a few weeks earlier than the launch windows for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26 lineups.
Here is a look at Samsung's Galaxy S launch timeline over the past several years:
The South Korean firm has reportedly already finalized all major components for the Galaxy S27 series, which includes the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra. Samsung is also said to be timing the launch around release schedules from rival brands, likely hinting at Apple and its upcoming base iPhone 18 model.
Samsung is currently deciding whether to equip the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra with LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage, especially since memory chip prices have surged several-fold over the past year.
On the processing front, the base Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ will reportedly feature the Exynos 2700 chip in most markets outside China and North America. The Galaxy S27 Pro may feature a split between the Exynos 2700 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 depending on the region, while the top-tier Galaxy S27 Ultra could exclusively use Qualcomm's chip.
