[Poll] Which feature do you miss on the new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge?

We won’t lie to you guys: We love what Samsung has done this year with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. These new flagships offer all of the major features one would expect and fix every flaw in the Galaxy S6 lineup. But at the same time, we are fully aware that there are quite a few things Samsung could have done to make these handsets even better.

A USB Type-C port and a pressure-sensitive display are major features that were part of the rumors but didn’t make the cut, but a lot of minor things could have been improved as well. For example, the front camera is still a measly 5-megapixel unit, there’s no true dual SIM variant, and the IR blaster is once again not on the spec sheet. Maybe Samsung could have finally upgraded to stereo speakers, or at least put the single loudspeaker at the front of the devices (of course, this would have affected the design, most likely in a negative manner).

No device can be completely perfect, as there will always be some thing or the other that we will complain about being missing from the latest and greatest. What do you think is missing from the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge, and what would you like to see on the sequels to these impressive smartphones? Let us know through the poll options, and through the comments!

The feature I miss the most is 64 Gb of internal storage… It doesn’t make ANY sense to release only 32 Gb models these days just because the microSD slot has returned. Why not give people the choice?

IR Blaster, I won’t “upgrade” my S6 because of this. Sure the S7is better is many little aspects but it is also significantly worst in one major aspect which I depend on heavily

Love what they have done with S7 & S7 edge. I am looking forward to Note 6, here is my Wishlist: Display: 5.8″ Super AMOLED Plus (Slim RGB) 4K display, pressure sensitive, bezel less (not as much as s7 edge but slight curve at edges to make it bezel less and great look and feel) Processor: Exynos 8890 (or an update) / SD820 RAM: 6GB LPDDR4 Storage: 256 GB UFS 2.0 + MicroSD card slot (upto 2TB) SIM: Dual 4G (along with microSD slot) Waterproof: IP68 (with S pen , doubtful) USB: USB 3.1 Type C Back Camera: 12 MP/f1.7… Read more »

I prefer a higher pixel fill display in order to avoid the screen door effect in VR.

None but the next Note must have an 8GB RAM, Vulcan Gaming Engine(like the S7) and IP68 rating for future-proofing

I wish they would stop giving us stuff but take other stuff away. Last year they gave us a tiny battery and large amounts of on board storage. This year it is larger battery and tiny on board storage. Please Samsung give us the option to have it all.

Well, it’s obvious Samsung’s device upgrade pattern has failed to be recognised by many! The S1 was an intro to the world of Galaxy, but the S2 showed how great that world could be. The 9300 series was a combination of cosmetic and minor hardware upgrades, then the S4 nailed it. The G900 was Samsung wanting to please everyone by making no less than five ‘variants’ of the device (that looked identical to its predecessor) in order to satisfy regional requests, and then the S6 comes out to blow us all away again. Ask yourself these questions: (a) How will… Read more »

SMALLER SCREEN!!

There’s a reason why I didn’t buy a Note when they first came out. They were too big!

Now the base model is bigger than the original Note.

Holding off with my S4 for a powerful smaller phone and not just a stripped down small model.

As far as I know, there isn’t a 64GB version going to be available in Australia and the USA. I’ve emailed Samsung Australia to see if I could order one online and will post a response once I get one.

The biggest disappointment with the Note5 was the removal of the IR Blaster. I had high hopes that the S7 would bring back a feature that was an amazing addition to the S5,S6, Note4 etc. I truly hope it makes it back for the Note6, I’d take that over most features anways.

About the missing IR blaster in the S7, I have a solution for that.

It’s a Kickstarter campaign soon to be launch.

Galaxy S7 is supported, and then you will have the IR blaster on S7.
That way we will enjoy the wonderful S7 and still have IR in your smartphone.

Please check it out here:

I miss the s4 capability to use both cell network and data simultaneously. So when you were on the phone you could search something up or use an app like lets say your bank app to let the other person know how much you have in your account instead of hanging up and then calling them back again

preime101
preime101

what are you talking about? that has been a standard feature in pretty much every phone for years. It hasn’t been removed from any Samsung phone after the S4.

That is related to 3G. 2G does not allows both at the same time but 3G [& 4G too] supports both Cellular data + calls at the same time. It does not matters if it’s an Android device or a feature phone with 3G.

mroj2162

I definitely miss the fact that you could be on the phone and be able to use data at the same time like using the browser or doing a search for the other person

1. MHL
2. IR Blaster
3. Glove Mode
4. Air View – basically the same as 3D touch!!! But better and nicer/fancier

nuclearemp

you totally nailed all the missing points. I forgot about the glove mode (not sure if it’s just default now though). MHL absolutely!!!! that was one of the biggest shockers, even considering that MHL could be used for VR at some point.

I don’t see what the big deal about the IR blaster, for me its just a remote. I have plenty of those around the house. If I want to change the channel I’ll use the remote that came with the TV or cable box. Higher resolution front camera would be nice maybe bring it up to 8 MP or 12. Front speakers would be nice as well. The 5.5 inch screen is perfect for my smaller hands. I have the Note 4 and at times its just to big. And the USB Type-C port is no biggie for me as… Read more »

I had 26 remotes programmed on my S6, I used it for everything, I really miss that feature

golem1102

As you said, you have plenty of remotes. The ir blaster on you phone sapose to minimise thise number to only one remote that is already, probably, in your hand or at least near you at the time you need a remote.
Once you get used to use it all the time, its hard to go back
