Samsung Galaxy A24

Introduction

Samsung updates its Galaxy A lineup early in the new year and it has already started to do that in 2023. Among the new handsets that are due to arrive in the coming months is the Galaxy A24. It’s the successor to the Galaxy A23 that was launched in early 2022.

Not much information is available at this point in time about the Galaxy A24. However, one can expect that it will be launched with some minor improvements and upgrades over its predecessor.

Design

Details about the design remain slim at this point in time but there are some general expectations that we can have, considering that this is going to be a budget device. It’s going to have a plastic shell and will be in line with the design language that Samsung has for 2023.

This means we will see similar rear camera cutouts for the Galaxy A24 that we see on other new 2023 devices like the Galaxy A14 5G. It can be reasonably assumed that this device will have a minimal design.

Specifications

Some rumors have surfaced over the past few weeks that have provided us with an idea of what to expect from the Galaxy A24 specs sheet. The device was recently spotted on a benchmarking website and the listing revealed that it likely runs on the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset.

A rather dubios leaked Galaxy A24 spec sheet also suggested that the device would have a 5,000mAh battery and support for 25W charging. That’s not outside the realm of possibility since both are already present on the device’s predecessor, the Galaxy A23. Don’t expect it to come with a charger in the box.

Display

There’s a rumor that claims the Galaxy A24 will be upgraded to an AMOLED display from the LCD panel found in the outgoing model. There have been no further rumors to support this theory. Little information is available about the size of this panel but it’s likely to be over 6-inches with a refresh rate of at least 60Hz.

Camera

Rumor has it that the Galaxy A24 camera setup will include a 48-megapixel primary sensor that has Optical Image Stabilization. The setup will also feature an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor alongside either a 5-megapixel depth or macro sensor.

The selfie camera might get a significant upgrade, going from 8-megapixel on the Galaxy A23 to 16-megapixel on the Galaxy A24.

Software and features

Samsung will undoubtedly ship the Galaxy A24 with Android 13 out of the box as well as One UI 5.0. All of the new Galaxy A series devices to hit the market in 2023 will be running the latest OS version for the year.

However, it remains to be seen if Samsung will support this device for four years of Android OS upgrades. There’s a big possibility that it may only be supported for two major OS upgrades.

Availability and price

There are no details available regarding the price and release date of the Galaxy A24 at this point in time. We can expect the device to start at 200 euro which is how much its predecessor cost.
