[Poll] How do you feel about new flagships being leaked completely?

Samsung’s next Unpacked event is already dead on arrival two weeks before it’s supposed to take place. The Galaxy Z Flip was the only device that wasn’t fully leaked but that changed yesterday when we saw the biggest leak yet for Samsung’s foldable smartphone.

There’s really nothing to look forward to at Unpacked since both stars of the show are now out in the open. It just takes away from the excitement of the event. As Samsung fans, do you like to see these new flagships being leaked completely long before their official launch event? Or do you prefer only exclusive reports that just confirm some details but don’t show off the device, the kind that we publish here on SamMobile from time to time. We’d love to know how you feel about all this.

Vote below and let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section.

I lost faith in the recent years on the flagship market. Its not like it used to be. Flagships seem to be now just a way for OEMs to find more and more ways to grab as much money as possible from people with stealthily and steadily offering less and less. I just want to know as much as possible info so I will know who is the leastest offender to that strategy so I will vote with my pocket.

Doesn’t matter of those already planned months ago to upgrade at any cost regardless of rumored features. Some upgrade 2 or more times a year for power only. I am no longer power driven.

I prefer seeing everything before launch, and I am still just as giddy to watch the event and see how they present it. It honestly only gets me more excited about purchasing the device. It builds hype!
I’ve already decided that I am purchasing the S20 Ultra. Now, me being me, I always preorder and always will preorder the latest, top tier flagships from Samsung, but regardless, it just excites me more.

Disappointed, but not surprised

I don’t really care… It’s not like they’re going to give you the big surprise or anything.
You’re going to pay for that thing so any kind of information is welcomed, not just the hyped version of the big announcement.
I like watching the announcement to see how they hype the thing. If I’m buying it, I won’t do it just by watching what the seller wants me to watch.

the leaks are intentional some feed it by samsung itself …
why? they test the market to see what people think – sometimes esp on the software side – they can make last minutes tweaks …eg the high display rate – leaked it will be locked at 1080p …lots of people complained and i wouldn’t be surprised if this will change

all these leaks are testing the waters to see how people will react
so far …i feel S10 had better public reception than S20 will have

I agree, more than testing the waters it is also just for competition. Like if anyone is considering the moto razr, leaks like these may make them reconsider and wait a bit. Which is highly likely.

They need the users feedback for the new devices so they can send the right marketing campain on the product launch.
imo the leaks are not all. I don’t want to see a presentation for the specs of the devices or for photos of them. We can see them in 2 minutes. I want to see what software is going to do with that specs. What is new in the software and security department, etc.
Let the chinese companies fight over specs.

People need to understand that this is all being done deliberately. Everything is scheduled to come out when it does to build the hype. The Galaxy Fold was kept very quiet. If they want it secret it will be secret. All companies, Samsung, Apple, Oneplus, Huawei, they all leak everything before launch so people will be ready more quickly to buy. It gives customers time to think about what is on offer for a long time before the release. Then, they will order much faster than having to think about the product for a few weeks AFTER the launch. People… Read more »

But what is the benefit for a company to leak things ahead? The buyer might wait for a newer device. The Galaxy Fold wasn’t supposed to go on sale a week after. The Galaxy Z Flip is. A Samsung subsidiary gave renders to some partners. The mistake is of course Samsung. But for fans like us, we like to see new things. Like the one more thing Apple always had.

I agree that it is no mistake. People are not like children waiting to see what Santa brings down the chimney. They want to be ready to buy or not buy on launch. I commented on the other related article. My company designs and sells 3D specialist scanners for dental and other medical needs. Even though a very specialised area, we begin releasing details of our new equipment months beforehand. That way our customers have absorbed the new features and can decide more quickly. Recently I bought a new Oculus Go for my teenage son. Everything was known before it… Read more »
