With the Galaxy S21 FE on the horizon, many have begun to wonder: Will it follow in its flagship cousins' footsteps and lack those features as well? Specifically, will it have a microSD slot, or will Samsung tell prospective Galaxy S21 FE buyers to depend on the cloud once they have run out of the built-in storage space?
It's something we here at SamMobile have been wondering as well, and, if we're being honest, there's no way to be sure at the moment. The rumors and leaks haven't given us any concrete information on the matter, and the many regulatory certifications the Galaxy S21 FE has picked up recently never reveal such details.
Having microSD expansion on a smartphone that's supposed to be made for Samsung fans would be a no-brainer, but we're not sure the Fan Edition label means as much to Samsung as we thought it did when the Galaxy S20 FE launched last year. That's because the Galaxy Tab S7 FE barely offers any of the specs that make the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ so good, suggesting Samsung is playing fast and loose with the definition of a Fan Edition device.
For now, all we can do is wait for new rumors to shed light on this particular subject. As for the official answer to the question, that is still a few months away as Samsung has reportedly delayed the Galaxy S21 FE's launch to the fourth quarter of this year because of the ongoing chip shortage.
