Three months into 2025, Samsung finally revealed when it plans to start rolling out the official One UI 7 update to eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Good news, right?
Well, yes, but there are a couple of things that you should know before you get into a tizzy.
The official One UI 7 rollout will begin on April 7, and Samsung will prioritize select flagships in the initial wave.
According to Samsung, the full list includes the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 FE, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Flip 6, the Galaxy Tab S9 series, and the Galaxy Tab S10 series.
Samsung has not given any indication that One UI 7 will be coming to mid-range devices anytime soon. In fact, the company plans to release a beta version of One UI 7 for the Galaxy A55 sometime this month, and we can assume that it will take a few weeks for the beta program to run its course.
Owners of eligible mid-range Galaxy devices should realistically expect to have to wait until May for the next major Android and One UI upgrade. And that’s if they own a recent device launched in 2023 or 2024. The older the device, the longer it will take for the One UI 7 update to arrive.
Not all the flagship phones and tablets mentioned above will get the update at the same time. April 7 is just the start date. Initially, the update will be released for the Galaxy S24 series (not including the FE model), the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
That’s not all: Samsung has also announced different release dates for various markets. Depending on where you live, the update will begin rolling out from April 7, April 10, or April 14, and even after the rollout begins in your country, it could take a few days for the update to reach you.
In short, while April will be an exciting month for Samsung fans who have been impatiently waiting for One UI 7, not everyone will reach the finish line at the same time. It sucks, but it is what it is.
