Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy S24 series today at the Unpacked event in San Jose, California. One of the biggest changes compared to last year is the return of Samsung's Exynos chipset. Fans who were satisfied by Samsung's decision to go Snapdragon-only for all Galaxy S23 models are understandably a bit concerned.

If you were planning on buying the Galaxy S24 Ultra all along, this isn't something you should be concerned about. All Galaxy S24 Ultra variants in all markets across the globe will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset. Beyond the chipset, there's a lot more to be excited about, as the Galaxy S24 Ultra features Samsung's most powerful camera setup of the year and advanced AI capabilities.

Galaxy S24 Ultra personifies the best of Samsung in 2024

The Galaxy S24 Ultra retains the quintessential boxy design that we've come to expect ever since this particular model became the reincarnation of the Galaxy Note. The design seems more streamlined this year as the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a flat display panel. Previous models had slightly curved panels, so the latest handset certainly feels fresh in the hand.

Measuring 79 x 162.3 x 8.6mm and weighing 232g, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the first flagship from Samsung to feature a Titanium shell, further adding to its very premium look and feel. The 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is the star of the show with its adaptive 1~120Hz refresh rate and eye-searing brightness (up to 2,600 nits). The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy is the beating heart of this device and it's paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

12GB of RAM comes standard across all variants of the Galaxy S24 Ultra (no 16GB RAM variant exists). It has the same 5,000mAh battery like its predecessor with support for 45W wired fast charging. You also get an S Pen with the device. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, Ultra Wide Band, NFC, and Wi-Fi- Direct.

The cameras on the Galaxy S24 Ultra have received a considerable upgrade. There's an improved 200-megapixel primary sensor with a new 50-megapixel telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom paired with an additional 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. A whole host of camera features elevate the photography and videography experience on the device, including 100x Space Zoom, Nightography for video, 8K video capture, Dual Recording, Super Steady, and more.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra ships with Android 14 and the latest One UI 6.1 out of the box. The new software brings with it plenty of new artificial intelligence-enabled features. These include the likes of automatic summarization of content in Samsung Notes, Internet, and Voice recorder, transcripts, real-time translation, AI-powered photo edit suggestions, generative wallpapers, and more.

You can pre-order the Galaxy S24 Ultra starting today until January 30, 2024. It's available in Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow. Prices start at $1,399.
