Samsung has been supplying Apple with OLED displays for iPhones for many years now. That includes LTPO OLED screens for the iPhone 16 series, too. Well, the South Korean tech giant may soon have to supply Apple with more advanced and more power-efficient, LTPO3 OLED displays for the iPhone 19 series.
According to The Elec. Apple is working on equipping its iPhone models for 2027 with LTPO3 OLED displays, and plans to source these screens from Samsung Display and LG Display. However, Samsung Display may not supply a large quantity of these panels as only one phone in the lineup may use them, the iPhone 19 Air.
Sources in the industry believe that the iPhone 19 Air has the highest probability of getting this screen. That’s because this phone may be very thin, which means that it may have a small battery, and the LTPO3 OLED with its higher efficiency may help with the battery life.
Other devices in the series, including the iPhone 19, iPhone 19 Pro, and the iPhone 19 Pro Max, may be thicker, which means that they may have a larger battery and may not require the power efficiency of LTPO3 displays to offer a satisfactory battery life. As such, they may not feature LTPO3 OLED displays
Samsung also offers a slim smartphone with flagship-grade hardware, the Galaxy S25 Edge. Despite using a display similar to the other phones in the Galaxy S25 series, it offers a full-day battery backup. If the South Korean tech giant opts for LTPO3 OLED for its successor, the Galaxy S26 Edge, it may offer an even better backup.
