Samsung’s done a lot of work to make sure Galaxy Tab S8 can’t bend easily

The Galaxy Tab S8 series is the first in a long line of Samsung tablets to consist of three main models: a base, a Plus, and an Ultra. They all share some common ground, albeit the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is without a doubt the most ambitious Android tablet to have ever hit the market. Regardless, all three tablet models promise one thing: they're a whole lot more resilient than their predecessors.

Some of you might recall that Samsung used something called ‘Armor Aluminum' for the construction of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 frame. And today, at Unpacked 2022, we received confirmation from Samsung that the same Armor Aluminum solution used by the latest foldable phones was also adopted by the Galaxy S22 and Tab S8 lineups.

Galaxy Tab S8 is 40% less likely to bend as the Tab S7

Even though the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra has the thinnest bezels yet, that shouldn't take away from its structural rigidity. Thanks to the use of armor aluminum, Samsung claims that the Galaxy Tab S8 series is 40% less likely to bend than the Galaxy Tab S7.

We didn't experience any bending issues with the Galaxy Tab S7 so far, but tablets are very likely to be found sitting under bed covers or in places that pose a higher risk of damage. Samsung is now trying to give the latest flagship tablets a higher survivability rating in these situations.

In other words, if you accidentally sit on the Galaxy Tab S8, it's roughly 40% less likely to bend under your weight, and it's all thanks to that use of armor aluminum. We wouldn't test this claim if we were you, but regardless, it sounds promising.

In parallel with these advancements, Samsung also took a few more environmentally conscious steps with the launch of the Tab S8 series. Like the Galaxy S22 lineup, the new tablets conceal some components that contain plastics recycled from discarded fishnets. In addition, they ship in new eco-friendly packages with a smaller footprint than last year.
