Samsung to care less about Galaxy S and A lineups, bet more on foldables

Samsung could unveil its next foldable phones in August, one month apart from the next-gen iPhones. Samsung's foldable devices will have the task of diverting attention away from Apple's latest flagships, and Samsung is reportedly taking extra steps to ensure that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 succeed in this task.

Market watchers say that Samsung could lower its sales expectations for the Galaxy A and Galaxy S series later this year and focus more on promoting its foldable premium devices. Rising inflation impacts the low-cost smartphone market more than the premium segment, and essentially, Samsung wants to increase its premium smartphone market share and close the gap with Apple. (via The Korea Times)

Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 could mark the return of offline events

So far, nothing has been confirmed regarding the launch of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, but leaks and rumors have pointed to an August 10 unveiling. Samsung's H2 Unpacked events usually take place in August, and for the past couple of years, they were online-only affairs due to COVID lockdowns and restrictions.

Interestingly enough, however, Samsung could be planning to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 at an offline event in New York, marking the return of offline Unpacked events after a two-year absence.

Sources say that Samsung has yet to decide how it will tackle the launch of its next foldable phones. But whatever the case may be, the company seems to have big things in store for us, Apple, and foldable phone fans. It may come at the cost of the Galaxy A and Galaxy S lineups performing worse, but time will tell.
