Samsung has unveiled its new Smart Monitor M8, a monitor designed for those who want their display to double up as a smart TV. On the sidelines of the ongoing CES 2024 expo, Samsung has introduced a minor upgrade to its popular Smart Monitor M8, bringing deeper integration with its ecosystem of wearables.

Let us have a look at the features of the Smart Monitor M8 (M80D).

Smart Monitor M8 (M80D) features 360 Audio and workout sync with Galaxy Watch

The new version of the Smart Monitor M8 for the year carries model number M80D. It looks identical to the Smart Monitor M8 from last year (M80C) but brings support for spatial audio through Samsung's 360 Audio feature. It means when you pair compatible Galaxy Buds with the monitor through Bluetooth, you can experience spatial audio while playing supported games, music, movies, and TV shows. It can also pair with a Galaxy Watch and display workout metrics from the smartwatch on the screen while you watch workout videos.

It runs the full-fledged Tizen OS, which means you get support for all the popular music and video streaming apps. It also features Samsung Gaming Hub, allowing you to stream games directly from the cloud (via Amazon Luna, Microsoft Xbox Cloud, Nvidia GeForce Now, and others). You can use a ‘Designed for Samsung Gaming Hub' certified accessory like the PDP Replay Midnight Blue with the Smart Monitor M8 to play cloud streaming games. There is support for AirPlay 2, Alexa, Bixby, Google Assistant, Samsung Health, SmartThings Hub, Smart View, Tap View, and other features seen on Samsung's smart monitors and smart TVs. Multi Control brings support for sending images and text from Galaxy Book laptops or Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Coming to the essentials of the monitor, the Smart Monitor M8 (M80D) is a 32-inch 4K monitor with a QLED screen, a 60Hz refresh rate, and 400 nits of peak brightness. It supports HDR10+ and has stereo speakers. It has a micro HDMI 2.0 p0rt, two USB Type-C ports (one with DisplayPort + USB PD charging capabilities), and two USB Type-A ports. It also features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It has a height-adjustable stand that also supports pivot and tilt. It also comes with a SlimFit Cam with 1080p resolution.

Have a look at our hands-on video of last year's Smart Monitor M8 (M80C) below.

Samsung hasn't announced pricing or availability of the Smart Monitor M80D. We expect it to be priced similar to its predecessor, so you can expect it to be listed with a price tag of around $700 in the US. Its availability will be announced in the coming weeks.
