A few days ago, Google and Samsung unveiled their first smart glasses developed in partnership with fashion eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Two styles of the smart glasses were showcased during the announcement, but the companies say even more styles will become available in the future.
Google and Samsung revealed that the initial designs from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker are only the “first collections” scheduled to launch later this year. The companies also confirmed that additional styles are planned for the future.
Samsung could be working with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to introduce more designs next year, giving users a wider variety of styles to choose from. The new smart glasses will also support prescription lenses, making them more practical for a broader range of users.
Samsung has not yet announced pricing or an exact launch date for the smart glasses, but the company confirmed that the first styles will launch in Fall 2026. The company hasn't even revealed the name of its smart glasses and is currently calling them “Intelligent Eyewear.”
The glasses run Android XR and feature Gemini-powered AI capabilities. They include a single front-facing camera, multiple microphones, stereo speakers, and a touchpad on the right temple. An LED will light up with the camera is being used, so that the person on the opposite side knows they are being recorded. They can work with both Android and iPhones, and can be controlled using a Galaxy Watch.
Gemini on these smart glasses can assist users with navigation, music playback, notification summaries, quick replies, and web-based information searches. Samsung’s smart glasses are expected to compete with Meta’s AI glasses and Apple’s rumored smart glasses.
These devices lack a built-in display, but models launching in 2027 or 2028 will have an onboard display.
