Samsung, the world's biggest memory chip maker, also makes some of the fastest SSDs in the world. Last year, the company launched its first consumer-grade PCIe 4.0 SSD. Now, the company has started teasing a new device that looks like a portable SSD, and it could launch soon.

The South Korean firm has started teasing a portable rugged device with the hashtag #RuggedDurability. From the looks of it, the device looks like a rugged version of the T7 SSD. It appears to have a rugged body, a USB Type-C port, and a status LED. It could launch in various storage capacity options. It remains to be seen if it features a PCIe SSD or a SATA SSD.

Samsung's T7 and T7 Touch SSDs, which were launched in the first half of 2020, are already pretty rugged. They have a solid aluminum casing and shock resistance of up to 2 meters. However, the upcoming SSD could feature even better durability and we can see an MIL-STD 810G rating and even resistance to extreme temperatures.
