Samsung has reportedly adjusted its production plan for its new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldable phones. It's particularly focusing on ramping up production of units destined for the United States as fast as possible to mitigate the tariff uncertainty.
The company is said to have reduced its overall production plan for the new foldables as it expects growth to be slow in the market. It may approach production cautiously and may only increase if there's a significant response from the market after the devices are launched.
Korean media is reporting that following the recent global strategy meeting, Samsung has decided to increase its production of the new foldables from 400,000 to 600,000 units for the United States. The idea is to get as many units into the US as quickly as possible to avoid tariffs of up to 25% or more.
The company had previously planned to produce 1.34 million units of the new foldables combined in June, but has since revised the plan. It's now claimed to be making 930,000 units this month split across 440,000 units for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, 350,000 units for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and 140,000 units for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.
Samsung could increase production in July following the launch if there's significant demand in the market. The production is expected to peak in July before tapering off in August and the following months once the company meets the initial demand rush for its new foldable phones.
