Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra at the Unpacked event on 10 July 2024. Blood glucose monitoring is one of the biggest new features expected on the upcoming models.
With only a week to go for the launch, folks at Android Authority dug deep into the Samsung Health app for Android and discovered UI in it that shows the measurement of advanced glycation end-products or AGEs taken by Galaxy Watches.
Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) are toxic compounds that our bodies produce due to an increased level of glucose circulating in our blood, among other things. These compounds accumulate in our bodies as we age. A higher level of AGEs usually indicates a higher level of blood glucose.
In the newly discovered user interface, Samsung says that Galaxy Watches can measure the user's AGEs index. But it doesn't reveal which Galaxy Watch models support it.
It is also unclear if this is the same blood glucose monitoring feature that the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra will offer or a separate one. If it is the same, many people will be disappointed as they are expecting to see full-fledged blood glucose monitoring on the upcoming wearables.
The story continues after the video…
Interestingly, the description of the feature doesn't mention blood glucose monitoring anywhere. Instead, it says that this measurement can “give you a sense of your metabolic health, which reflects your overall biological aging process.” Hopefully, we will get to know more about it as we get closer to the launch.
