Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Everything you need to know

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 succeeded the impressive Galaxy Watch Ultra and went official in July 2026. The high-end smartwatch runs One UI 9 Watch (based on Wear OS 7) out of the box and features a slightly more refined and comfortable design. It also offers a brighter display, faster performance, additional health and wellness features, and longer battery life.

Let’s take a look at everything that the wearable offers.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 largely retains the same design as the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It has a 1.52-inch circular Super AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. The display is covered by a Sapphire Crystal glass panel to protect it from scratches and scuffs.

The screen is surrounded by a circular bezel with hour markings. Everything is housed in a squircle-shaped titanium case, which features three buttons, Back, Action, and Home, on the right side and a loudspeaker on the left. It has an IP69K rating for dust and water (10 ATM) resistance, and this rating also means the Watch Ultra 2 can withstand hot water jets.

It also features EN13319 rating, which is given to professional-grade diving gear such as depth guages and depth and time measuring devices.

The smartwatch has a simpler 20mm silicone watch strap with a dual-buckle tongue for a secure fit. This strap is more elastic, thinner, and more breathable than the Galaxy Watch Ultra strap. It also doesn't use Galaxy Watch Ultra-like the ridged watch strap design. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 comes in Titanium Grey and Titanium Silver colors.

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite chip. It is an upgrade over the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s Exynos W1000 chip in terms of performance, thanks to its higher CPU clock speeds and a more powerful GPU. The Snapdragon chip is paired with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The smartwatch also features dual-band GNSS (BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS, and L1 + L5 GPS), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0 with LE support, and NFC.

It is powered by an 800mAh battery, a significant upgrade over the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s 590mAh battery. Combined with a newer chip, the larger battery delivers longer battery life than its predecessor. It also supports high-frequency 10W (5W, 2A) inductive fast charging (WPC-based).

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 runs Wear OS 7 and One UI 9 Watch out of the box. It will get five major Wear OS and One UI Watch upgrades. It will also get periodic security updates for up to five years.

The smartwatch is equipped with an accelerometer, altimeter, barometer, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) sensor, compass, GNSS, gyro sensor, and heart rate monitor. It can measure blood oxygen (SpO2), body composition, heart rate, steps, sleep (duration, quality, and stages), VO2 max, and workouts.

It also offers advanced health and wellness features, including Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs), Antioxidant Index, and Blood Pressure Trend. The Trail Run feature offers pro-grade sports tracking, including detailed route direction, average gradient, elevation gain, and hydration guidance.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is Samsung's first smartwatch that can become a diving computer during recreational diving. It can measure depth, dive time, water temperature, and more.

With the Mares Dive app (Mares subscription required), the smartwatch will display ascent and descent speeds, No-Decompression Limit guidance, and real-time nitrogen absorption monitoring. The app also offers adjustable gradient factors.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 was announced on July 22, 2026, during a Galaxy Unpacked event. It became available for pre-order on the same day. Its general availability date is August 7, 2026.

In the US, Samsung has priced the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at $699. In Europe, it costs €749. In other countries, pricing largely remains similar to that of the first-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra.

It has two color options: Titanium Grey and Titanium Silver.
