After Apple, Microsoft reaches $3 trillion market cap

The market capitalization of Microsoft has reached USD 3 trillion for the first time since it started forty-eight years ago. It is now the second company, after Apple, to reach a market capitalization of $3 trillion. In fact, Microsoft is currently the most valuable company in the world. Since the beginning of this year, the two tech giants have been trading places with each other for the company with the highest market valuation.

While it took Apple thirty-four months to go from $2 trillion to $3 trillion, Microsoft achieved the same target in 31 months, which also makes it the fastest company to do so. As you can see, Microsoft is growing rapidly, and that’s mainly because the company is focusing strongly on artificial intelligence (AI), which is getting more and more popular every day. Microsoft has not only invested heavily in OpenAI, which is the maker of ChatGPT, and the demand for whose products is skyrocketing, but it also launched Copilot.

On the other hand, Apple hasn’t been doing as well lately. The demand for the company’s tablets and laptops has dropped globally. The demand for iPhones has also been plunging in China as people in the country are supporting Huawei, a home-grown brand, in a patriotic wave. The sales of its smartwatches might also drop significantly now that the company is offering the Watch Series 9 and the Watch Ultra 2 without blood oxygen saturation monitoring. The Vision Pro might also not be able to turn around the situation.
