Apple unveiled its latest iPhone 15 series yesterday, and you may have already heard about the top-tier iPhone 15 Pro Max starting at $1,199. But that's the price for the US market before taxes, and in most other markets, Apple fans will have to pay a lot more than that.
You may think the title above is incorrect, but we can assure you the iPhone 15 Pro Max outprices the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in at least one big market: India. If you want to buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max in India, you can expect to pay INR 159,990 ($1,928) for the 256GB model.
How much does the Galaxy Z Fold 5 cost? As of this writing, you can buy the Galaxy Z Fold 5 with 256GB of storage for INR 154,990 ($1,868).

Make sure you check local prices before you jump at a new iPhone
Although the $1,199 starting price for the iPhone 15 Pro Max sounds like a bargain in the USA, that quoted price doesn't include VAT, and the reality is different in many markets outside the USA.
In European countries like Germany or the Netherlands, you can expect to pay roughly €1,500 for the top-of-the-line iPhone. Still, it's not as pricey as the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which usually starts at €1,899 without trade-in or the usual discounts.
We haven't checked the prices for every market, but Apple fans in India seem to be getting the short end of the stick. And assuming they're not tied to the Apple ecosystem, they might be better off buying the Galaxy Z Fold 5 if they have the budget and they're looking to experience something new.
If you're unsure whether the iPhone 15 Pro Max costs as much as the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in your market, you might want to check your local store for prices before you push that buy button. Otherwise, you could end up paying way more for the iPhone 15 Pro Max than the advertised USA prices. And if you're looking to buy a new Galaxy Z Fold 5, Samsung often has discounts and various offers attached to its foldable phones, so make sure you visit your local Samsung online store for details.
